Where is Joe?March 31st, 2006Sorry guys I have been away for a while and not able to keep up to date with my websites. I have been working on receiving and practicing for my 4th degree black belt while trying to keep everything else balanced. I should start writing more every day from now on.
Joes Cleaning your ComputerFebruary 23rd, 2006I know I have discussed maintaining your computers hardrive and operating system. But, what about your computer physically it can make just a big of difference as a virus. You need to clean your computer. Whether you go to the store and buy special wipes and canned air to clean your computer or use clean cloths and a air compressor it needs to be done. Dust is a huge thing. Just the other day a friend brought his computer to me because it would shut down and not come back on. What was the problem? DUST. It had been collecting on his fan so it would not rotate then proceed to get over heated and shut itself down. Lesson learned. 1) Don’t unplug your computer to shut it down!
2) Get a uninteruptable power supply for a surge protector!
3) Back up your files!
4) Run cleanmgr at least once a month!
5) Do a virus check once a week, minimum!
6) Highspeed internet users need a firewall!

. So here it goes for everyone who thinks their computer takes to long to start up their are a few options you have I will try to discuss a few here. First, I would do a clean install of your operating system which i try to do every couple months. This gets rid of all old temp files, old registry keys, and all the other junk you dont want just sitting there. If you dont want to do this you can go to start-run- then type in cleanmgr. This is also agreat way without having to do major work. What browser do I use? I get asked this question a lot. So I thought I would share! The best browser I have found is avant browser. Why do I say it is the best? First it is fast, beating ie and firefox. Second it comes built in with pop up blockers, ad blockers, you can set it to block images, flash, active x, videos, sounds, scripts, applets or whatever else you dont wana see. It is easy to use but at the same time more customization for the geeks out there like me. You can right click and translate the page. Easy tabbed browsing and more. Wow there is so much more you should give it a try.
